What is the volunteering role?

What are the aims of this organisation/role?

To be there for children when they need us. Volunteers provide a listening and supportive service for children and young people up to the age of 19 and can be contacted on the phone, email or chat.

What can volunteers expect to gain?

Experience of working directly with children and as part of a team. Confidence in using counselling skills in a range of ways. Excellent training for the role and opportunities for further training in the future including an accreditation. We offer references and further insight into the third sector which is great for CV building.

What skills and abilities do I need to take on this role?

We are looking for people with good communication and listening skills. You don't need any formal counselling qualification but should training and applying learning to volunteering.

Where is this opportunity based?

Cardiff Childline base or there is an option to volunteer from home.

What is the time commitment of this role?

We ask that volunteers give 26 shifts a year, these are flexible times to fit in with your other commitments.

Is a DBS check required?

Yes, the NSPCC will provide these.
