What is the volunteering role?

What are the aims of this organisation/role?

Our Community Champions are at the heart of helping us to create a world without limits for people with epilepsy. They offer support and visibility at a local level, from fundraising to awareness raising and will help us achieve these goals. The Community Champion Volunteers in South Wales have three main roles: • Help raise awareness about Epilepsy Action’s work to make a difference for people living with epilepsy. • You’ll assist with setting up information stands, engaging with the general public, distributing materials, and helping to challenge the stigma surrounding epilepsy. • To actively engage and build networks and connections with local groups and associations in South Wales.

What skills and abilities do I need to take on this role?

Our Community Champions offer support and visibility at a local level and are involved with the work we do, from fundraising to awareness raising. We want as many people as possible to know what epilepsy is and what we are doing at Epilepsy Action to help support people living with epilepsy. We're looking for: Enthusiastic, can-do attitude Confidence and willingness to speak in public and be able to share your own story and information about Epilepsy Action Ability to network and make connections in your local community Flexibility to offer support when opportunities are available Outgoing personality who likes meeting new people Confidence using technology including social media platforms and Microsoft packages

What is the time commitment of this role?

Flexible/Hourly

Is a DBS check required?

Yes the role requires a basic DBS check, we cover the cost of this for the volunteers. We can either raise the check for the volunteers on our end or they can raise a check themselves and we reimburse the cost.
