What is the volunteering role?

What are the aims of this organisation/role?

The aim is to help to improve children's enjoyment and confidence in reading.

What can volunteers expect to gain?

Through a mixture of training and on the job training they will gain skills to help children to improve their reading ability.

What skills and abilities do I need to take on this role?

Our role is an online reading volunteer who reads one-to-one with children ages 7-11. As they'll be reading with children, they do need to have a native or fluent level of English themselves. Someone with an interest in working with children in the future is often a good fit as it will help build their experience, but it is not a requirement.

Where is this opportunity based?

The reading takes place over Zoom

What is the time commitment of this role?

Weekly

Is a DBS check required?

Yes - ACE Cardiff can assist with this. This must be carried out in person even though the role is online.
