Re:Make Newport

Re:Make Newport

Are you interested in helping protect the environment and getting involved in an exciting new project actively supporting the circular economy?

Re:make Newport is a pilot project which will see the creation of a permanent reuse and repair store in the centre of Newport. It will host a “Library of Things” allowing members of the community to borrow household items really cheaply – think spades, tents, kitchen tools, toys etc, and a repair space where household items can be fixed for free! There will also be a workshops, masterclasses, and events to bring people together to teach and learn new skills!

The project is being managed by Benthyg Cymru and Repair Cafe Wales in partnership with Newport City Homes and Tapas Cymru. The ultimate goal is to make this a community space that reduces waste generated in society and encourages people to move away from the consumer culture.

We are looking for volunteers who will help run the store alongside our Store Manager. The voluntary opportunities are incredibly varied, from helping serve customers in the library to fixing items in the repair space. We’ll also need volunteers to help organise and maintain the items in the library, organise workshops and events, and produce social media content.

If this sounds like something you are passionate about and would like to be involved in then we can’t wait to meet you! Sign up below and email Volunteering@cardiff.ac.uk to let us know you would like to get involved!

Please log in to view the committee.
