Drug Testing

Cardiff University Students’ Union is committed to safeguarding the wellbeing of all students, including those who choose to use recreational drugs.

Students’ Union now offers two types of drug testing kit to students of Cardiff University, which can be collected from Student Advice, on the 3rd floor of the Students’ Union, every Wednesday between 12.00 – 13.00pm.

The kits are designed to be taken away, and used at home. Please remember that, Cardiff University Students’ Union has a strict zero tolerance policy with regard to drugs.

Please do not bring any drugs with you when you come and visit, we will not allow you to use any test kits on the premises.

Testing Kits

EZ Reagent testing kits and WEDINOS postal testing kits. If you would like the EZ reagent testing kits, we will ask you for a small cash donation (we don't accept card). The WEDINOS postal testing kits are free and can also be collected from Student Advice, within the Student Union.

Reagent Testing Kits

Reagent Test kits contain chemicals that react with a sample to give a color change, which can indicate the presence of a known compound. The kits that we supply are produced by an independent company and called EZ Test Kits.

Such tests provide an instant result, although this is just indicative and not the same as professional analysis. You should make yourself aware of the limitations of these kits before you use them, and consider a WEDINOS kit instead.

Suggested Donation

“MDMA” Test

“Ketamine” Test

“Cocaine” Test

The Welsh Emerging Drugs & Identification of Novel Substances Project (WEDINOS) is a harm reduction project operated by Public Health Wales. The project provides a laboratory analysis on any sample it receives in the post, providing chemical information to the user.

A WEDINOS kit allows you to post a sample anonymously for professional analysis. We are providing a WEDINOS postal testing kit that you can collect from Student Advice for free and send off to get your result.

A WEDINOS kit will not tell you the purity of a sample, or the strength of a sample, but it will tell you what is in it.

When you collect either of the drug testing kits, we will ask you a few questions to support our project, and will signpost you to harm reduction information. We will not ask for any personally identifiable information.

This is a confidential service and we will not be collecting identifiable information as part of this trial.
