We are delighted to announce that in this year’s NUS Green Impact Report, Cardiff Students’ Union has been awarded Gold for the second consecutive year!

The award comes from NUS’ Green Impact Students’ Union accreditation programme, which provides a practical framework for greening students’ unions, covering actions around waste, travel, biodiversity, energy use and student engagement.

Cardiff Students’ Union scored above the national average of the awards criteria consistently, while also improving upon last year’s results in all areas, gaining an almost perfect score of 1323 points out of 1400. Particular praise was given to the recent refurbishment of Union’s facilities and night club;

“Cardiff SU are doing some good work, particularly around the new refurbishment of the SU. The Staff are well informed particularly around the building sustainability and are focused on achieving and maintaining a high Green standard. Well done! Begin to consider what could make the basis of a good excellence campaign.”

We look forward to continuing our work in becoming a greener, more sustainable Union in the next academic year, and with the help of both staff and students, hope to further improve upon this year’s score and gain a 3rd Gold!
