Waste Not Want Not

!!Lead Volunteer Opportunity!!

Embrace the power of giving back as our Lead Volunteer and make a meaningful impact on the community. Volunteering is not just about what you can do for others; it's an enriching journey that can transform your life. Our project's success hinges on a passionate lead volunteer - without you our mission stands still. Tailor your involvement - commit as much or as little time as suits you.

To take on this role email volunteering@cardiff.ac.uk, and become the driving force behind positive change!

Waste Not Want Not

Originally set up by a Medic Undergraduate student in 2015, students helped redistribute foodstuffs from the Students’ Union and University catering outlets to local homelessness charities with the dual aims of reducing food waste and providing for those in poverty.

Our hope for this year is to work with the VP Societies and Volunteering to set up our own community fridge within the SU so join us if you want to get involved and watch this space!

This has also helped to run the Cathays Community Fridge project based at Cathays Community Centre - a community fridge where surplus food is donated by local businesses and shared freely between people in the community.

Volunteers play an essential role in this project, undertaking a variety of tasks which all contribute to reducing food waste. These include:

  • Fridge Monitors
  • Surplus Food Collectors

You can find out more about the project and these roles in the Community Fridge Volunteer Pack here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kC_hQK0U9WYhgp8w9k1NpDAUiTRt2vTa/view?usp=sharing
