Milly is 21 years old and recently graduated with a Human Geography degree. Milly grew up in Surrey, where she studied A-Levels in Geography, Law and English Literature at Godalming College.

Whilst studying at Cardiff, Milly was a member of Brass Band Society, joining their committee as both Treasurer and President in the last two years. During her year as President she helped lead the band to a top 10 result in the University Championships. Milly has also been a member of Baking Society, CPLAN Society and Snowsports over her three years here at Cardiff. Milly completed the Cardiff Award in her 2nd year and has worked closely with the University’s Careers & Employability’s service since then. Further to this, Milly has had the chance to travel and volunteer in India with the Global Opportunities Centre, helping guide her dissertation research.

During Freshers’ Week 2014, Milly joined the Welcome Crew and from there began her work with Give it a Go. Her final year of studying at Cardiff University saw her carry out the role of Give it a Go Volunteer Coordinator, where she had the opportunity to travel around Europe volunteering on student trips to cities such as Paris, Amsterdam & Dublin, as well as working on improving student engagement and opportunities within the Students’ Union.

During her third year of University, Milly decided to run for Vice President Societies in the student elections. Her decision for running stemmed from the experiences she has gained through her involvement with societies and the Students’ Union. Her campaign, which was themed ‘Milly’s Cookies’ was successful and she began her role in June 2016.

Milly's priorities for the year are:

  • Working to increase the number of students involved in Societies so that more people can benefit from the amazing events and work that committees achieve.
  • Improving and reshaping the tier structure so that Societies are better rewarded for their hard work.
  • Introducing a ‘Society of the Week’ showcase, to help increase promotion of a variety of societies all year.
  • Ensure that Societies maintain strong links with Give it a Go, as well as developing the provision of Union led trips abroad.
