About My Role
The LGBT+ Officer (Open) represents all students that are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans or Plus identifying. They ensure that the student voice is heard and campaign for better facilities and access. They also run events to bring the LGBT+ community closer together..
Shwmae pawb! // Hi everyone!
I'm Georgia, your LGBT+ (Open) Officer, and I'm here to tell you a little bit about me.
I am currently a 3rd year student here at Cardiff, studying English Literature / Religious Studies. I love learning and reading, and I also enjoy a spot of baking every now and then. I am currently trying (trying!) to learn Welsh, and am the President of the Cardiff Student Christian Movement, which is pretty cool.
During my time here I have been part of the Welcome Team and the Welfare Exec, which have both greatly informed my ambition to use this post to make a difference. My particular talents include being really queer and really dramatic.
I am looking forward to getting stuck in! Myself and Lucas - your LGBT+ (Trans) Officer - have an Association of awesome and passionate people that we are excited to work with. Please contact me about volunteering opportunities if you want to help us help our community!
My main priorities for the year include:
- Campaigns to raise awareness for LGBT sexual and mental health
- An LGBT+ Jobs' Fair to connect LGBT-run and trans-friendly businesses with members of the community struggling to find work
- An exhibition of LGBT Welsh history during LGBT History Month
- Close working relationships with other campaign officers and Student-Led Services so we can increase intersectionality in our campaigning spheres.
