is responsible for representing the interests of Welsh-speaking students at the University within the structures of the Union and, where appropriate, the University.

About

My name is Jacob, and it is my privilege to be your Welsh Language Officer. I am in my second year studying Welsh and Politics and thoroughly enjoying being a part of the capital city’s excitement! My interests include politics, Welsh music and enjoying in the company of my friends. Over the past year my main aim was to work tirelessly for the rights of Cardiff University Welsh Speakers and this year is no different – so I beg you to contact me about any issue that may come your way.

My priorities: Simply to work tirelessly for Welsh speaking students. I plan to get rid of the exams on Saturdays – for the benefit of students who partake in Welsh culture by taking part in the Urdd Eisteddfod. Also trying to get rid of the existing system of having to register to do exams through the medium of Welsh within the first five weeks of each term. The main aim is to work closely with UMCC to establish a full time Welsh Language Officer within the Union which would ingrain an equal rank for the Welsh Language in the Union and the University.

Jacob's priorities include:

  • Don’t ever hesitate to contact me with any issues to do with the Welsh language!
  • Embrace every opportunity that comes your way.
  • Experience everything and get outside of your comfort zone!
