1. Website

Q. Why do I need to log in?

You need to log in to make an account. All club night tickets this year are digital – therefore you need to make an account to make sure your ticket is sent to you.

Q. I’m having trouble logging in – what should I do?

2. Events

Q. Can I buy event tickets in person from the Students' Union?

A. All of the event tickets are available for purchase on the Students' Union website.

Q. Is there a Freshers' wristband that I can purchase?

No, we don’t sell Freshers’ wristbands. We have created so many varied events to suit our diverse student population and when it comes to Welcome Week we want you to be able to ‘make it yours’, so pick whichever events you fancy getting involved in. All of our event tickets are based on student-friendly prices – some of our events are also free to attend! If you’re not sure which events to pick, why not find your future flatmates by joining our Halls Facebook pages.

Q. Can I bring a friend to the Students’ Union Freshers’ club nights?

Cardiff University student can bring along a plus one to the Students’ Union club nights, as per the terms and conditions, as long as they have valid ID (and a ticket obvs).

3. Club Night Tickets

Q. Why are there different prices for the same ticket?

There is a phased release for club night tickets, to get the best price - buy early!

Q. How can I make sure I get the best value?

Make sure you buy as early as possible and get your friends to do the same! If you’re not sure which events to pick, why not find your future flatmates by joining our Halls Facebook pages.

Q. I want to go to the club night tonight but the tickets are no longer for sale online – what do I do?

Please go to The Taf in the Students’ Union – if there are tickets available, you can purchase one from 7pm onwards. Keep an eye on socials for the latest ticket news: Follow us at facebook.com/YPlasCUSU

 

Q. Why do some tickets cost more on the day of the event?

A. Club night ticket releases are phased – you get the best value by buying as early on as possible – if you buy on the day you will pay the higher price. To get the best value be sure to buy in advance.

Q. I want to buy a ticket for tonight’s event – how do I do this?

A. Tickets for each nights’ event will be available online up until a certain point on that day. After that subject to availability they will be able to purchase from The Taf in the evening.

Q. Do I need to collect my tickets?

A. There is no need to collect tickets – we want to make it as easy as possible for everyone, so once you have bought online you will receive a confirmation e-mail initially confirming your purchase(s). A second e-mail will then follow with individual e-tickets for each club night event. (e.g. if you have bought 4 X YOLO tickets – you will have 4 separate e-tickets).

Q. Can I buy a ticket on the door?

A. We cannot grantee access on the door due to capacity; we would strongly advise that all tickets be purchased in advance to guarantee entry.

Q. I want to bring a friend – they are student at a different uni, can they come?

A. Any students will be admitted as long as they have a student card or NUS Totum card. Please bring proof as you may be requested to present it.

Q. I want to bring a friend – they aren’t a student – can they come?

A. A non-student guest may be admitted, but they must accompany a student who is a member of Cardiff University with appropriate ID (Student Card).

Q. I’ve bought my tickets but haven’t got an e-mail confirmation with my e-Ticket – who do I contact?

A. Firstly, please log in to your account and select ‘purchase history’ – find the appropriate purchase and click re-send. If the confirmation e-mail and subsequent ticket PDF does not come through please get in touch with SUCustomerService@cardiff.ac.uk and we can look into this for you

Q. I’ve bought my tickets I have the confirmation e-mail but the second e-mail with my E-Tickets hasn’t arrived – what should I do?

A. Firstly, please log in to your account and select ‘purchase history’ – find the appropriate purchase and click re-send. If the confirmation e-mail and subsequent ticket PDF does not come through please check all folders (including clutter and junk). If you still haven’t received your tickets get in touch with SUCustomerService@cardiff.ac.uk and we can look into this for you

Q. Why do I have multiple e-tickets?

A. You will have a different e-ticket for each club night purchased. Please have the relevant e-ticket to hand for speed of entry on the nights. If you have bought 4 tickets for one night, you will have four separate e-tickets.

Q. I’ve bought my ticket but can’t make the event can I please have a refund?

Sorry – as per our T&C’s no refunds will be offered on ticket purchases.

Q. The event looks completely sold out – will there be any more releases?

A. If they are sold out unfortunately there won’t be any more releases online.

Q. I’ve bought my ticket – what time does it guarantee entry until?

A. Tickets guarantee entry until 23:00 each night, they are non-transferable and no refund can be offered.

Q. Where are the photos from the club nights?

A. You can find all the photo’s the next day by going to our Y Plas Facebook Page. Check it out and make sure you follow us to keep up with the latest club night events in the student calendar.

4. Alcohol-free Events

Q. I’m not interested in club night events, what are my other options?

We have lots on offer during the day and evening for anyone who doesn’t fancy a big club night. Check out our full list of events.

Q. I’m interested in a number of events are there any discounts for multiple trips?

We don’t offer event packages as we want you to have the freedom to choose whatever events you want! We’ve kept the prices as low as possible and there are plenty of free activities on offer too.

Q. I’ve bought my ticket for a daytime or evening event - I can’t make it - can I please have a refund?

Unfortunately under our Terms and Conditions, all Give it a Go events are strictly non-refundable (and non-transferable) unless we cancel the entire event. We are sorry about this.

Q. I’ve bought my ticket for a daytime or evening event, but can’t make the event – can I give my ticket to a friend?

A. Tickets are non-transferable. All products and tickets bought from the Students' Union website are bound by the same Box Office rules as gigs and concerts. They are only valid for use by the person who bought them. All tickets are bought from specific student accounts and giving a ticket to another person with a different student number means they will be refused access at the door of the bus/event.

Q. The event looks completely sold out what does this mean?

If they are sold out unfortunately there won’t be any more releases online.

Q. I've heard of Give it a Go – what is that?

Give it a Go (GIAG) is a Students' Union initiative showcasing opportunities and taster sessions available to all Cardiff University students. Give it a Go are hosting lots of the daytime and evening events that are alcohol-free.

Q. Can I buy a ticket on the day from a GIAG Representative?

Yes! Providing there is space left on the trip, bring along the correct money and you can purchase a ticket from the third floor finance office, just make sure you leave enough time to get back to the ground floor Box Office - The meeting point for all our trips and tours.

5. University Releated

Q. When can I come to collect my student ID card?

A. ID card collection will be running from Monday 16th September to Friday 4th October (including Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd) between 09:30 and 16:30.

Q. Where and when can I collect my Residences key?

A. You can find out more about moving into your new University Residences room here: cardiff.ac.uk/new-students/when-you-arrive/moving-in

Q. When will I get my Student Finance payment?

A. Student Finance will be released once the student has completed their enrolment and collected their Student ID card. Student Finance usually arrives just after Freshers’ Week, but students can check the exact date by logging in to their SFE accounts.

6. Joining Clubs and Societies

Q. How do I join a club/society?

There is a Sports Fair on Monday 23rd and Societies and Volunteering on Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th. There you will be able to sign up to clubs or societies that you are interested in. Alternatively, you can see a full list of clubs and societies on the website and can purchase your membership from there. If you want to chat about which Society or Sports club might suit you, come along to see our friendly staff and students on the 3rd floor.

Q. How can I get involved in Volunteering/Enterprise/Skills Development?

There will be a Jobs and Skills Fair on Thursday 26th September where students can find out about volunteering and skills development opportunities.

Q. How do I sign up to the Jobshop?

First of all you will need to register with the Jobshop online, then take your student ID card and passport to the Jobshop in the Skills Hub on the second floor of the Students’ Union (Park Place) or at the Students’ Union at the Heath (IV Lounge) to complete your registration.

7. International Students

Q. Do I need a Bank Letter? (International Students)

A. Students no longer need to get a bank letter printed and stamped. They simply need to show the email on their phone in order to open a bank account.

Q. How do I arrange an appointment for Police Registration? (International Students)

Go to International Student Support on the third floor of the Students’ Union.

Q. I don’t know when my school induction is

Details about school induction events can be found on the university website.

Each school has multiple induction events for each individual course so students should make sure they check the details for their course before induction week starts on Monday 23rd September.

Q. Should I register with a GP, and how do I register?

It’s a good idea to register with a GP while you are in Cardiff. Find out where the local surgeries are and contact them about registering, most places you can drop in to get registration forms.

Park Place GP Surgery at 37 Park Place is a joint collaboration between Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, Cardiff University’s Health Team at Student Support and Wellbeing and the Students’ Union. Students living in the catchment area are invited to register.
