Winter Wonderland

It’s hard to miss it but… in case you’ve not seen the massive wheel, Winter Wonderland is back! Situated opposite City Hall you’ll find the magic land that is Winter Wonderland! There’s loads to do from ice skating to some yummy and warming food and drink. Make sure to book any activities that you’d like to do in advanced as they can get busy! 

 

Cardiff Christmas Markets

The Cardiff Christmas markets are definitely worth a visit. With over eighty beautifully decorated stalls, you’re bound to find a gift or two. Stretching across the streets of Cardiff City Centre you won’t miss them with their festive tunes and twinkling lights. 

 

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Wales’ no. 1 pantomime returns! For as little as £13 you can go and see a performance of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the New Theatre.

 

Theatre at the Millennium Centre

Make sure you have a look at all the different performances going on at the Millennium Centre over the festival period, from Peter Pan to Opera there’s something for everyone! With train tickets to the bay for as little as £3 it’s quick and easy to pop over for a performance.

 

Walking Tasting Tour

With so much amazing food in Cardiff, the Walking Tasting Tour is a great opportunity to experience the tasty range of specialist food producers and retailers in Cardiff! If you don’t fancy it yourself then maybe you know someone it would be a great gift for?

 

 

Ice Hockey

If you fancy some sport whilst you’re in Cardiff over the festival period then get out your warmest coat and bobble hat and join Cardiff Devils at the Ice Rink for some Ice Hockey! With loads of games throughout December and tickets from around £11 per person it’s an atmosphere not to be missed!

Stroll through the park

Cardiff is beautiful in the winter, so why not pull on your wellies and have a wander through Bute or Roath Park? We know a lot of you will have lots of revision to do over the Christmas holidays, but it’s really important that you take a break from studying and get a bit of fresh air. Cardiff is really picturesque at this time of year with the frosty leaves and blanket of mist covering the city, you’ll definitely be able to get a few Instagram likes with one of those shots. Why not take a flask of coffee or hot chocolate with you to keep you warm? It’ll save you spending money as well!

Explore the arcades

We’re really lucky in Cardiff to have such wonderful historic arcades running through the core of the City! You’ll find everything tucked away, from little coffee shops, boutiques, vintage stores and the oldest record shop in the world! Go for an explore and see what you can find

 

Stretch your pennies:

Cardiff Visitors Card

If you’re planning on being out and about over the next few weeks then you should have a look at the Cardiff Visitors Card. For just £4 the card gets you great discounts at lots of different events and shops.

 

NUS discounts in the cinema

If you’ve got an NUS Extra card then you can get up to 25% off cinema tickets at Odeon cinemas. If you need a bit of time away from revision and want to sit down with some popcorn and watch a film then head down to the Odeon at The Bay. NUS Extra cards get you great discounts and offers across loads of things from shops to travel so it’s definitely worth getting one. Make the most of students perks!

 

Cardiff Castle Key

A Cardiff Castle Key is a great investment if you’re working or living in Cardiff. For only £6 you get free entry into the Castle for 3 years as well as special discounts in the gift shop.
