An update from Fadhila, your Students’ Union President

For over 4 years Muslim students have campaigned for better facilities to practise their faith in the Students’ Union and University as a whole. They have collected evidence, presented motions in Student Senate and at the AGM. Unfortunately, little progress has been made. However, this time is different! Last year, £5k funding was secured for installing ablution facilities in the Students’ Union. To build good facilities, we need at least £16k. We wish to install these facilities in the 3rd floor near the multi-faith prayer room.

We have more than 2,400 Muslim students on campus from the UK and abroad. For people of faith, religion plays a role in positive for mental health and can increase academic performance.

This move will help improve our reputation at home and internationally.
