How to stay positive in lockdown?
1. What are you grateful for?
Make a note of everything you are grateful for and what makes you happy. This is great to read over when you aren’t feeling so positive.
2. Set goals
This time is a great opportunity to read that book collecting dust or clear out your wardrobe. Make a list of achievable goals you want to tackle; you could have a range of short term and long-term ones. Writing a physical list of goals makes it even more satisfying to tick off.
3. Make time for friends and family
Plan events such as quizzes throughout the week so you always have something to look forward to. This is a great opportunity to strengthen those relationships with the people you love.
Exercise not only gets the body moving but also the mind. Put aside at least 30 minutes of your day and get moving! You won’t regret it.
5. Don’t spend too much time on social media
It is far too easy spending hours watching Tik Toks, but make sure you put your phone away and do something. This could be reading a book, colouring or cooking.
6. Don’t be too hard on yourself!
A lot of our negative emotions can arise from feeling lazy and unproductive. By telling yourself anything you do within a day is an achievement you are more likely to be more positive and stay productive. Don’t kick yourself for the odd day watching Netflix, this is a very unusual time for us all. Make sure to put yourself first!
