An excellent opportunity for anyone doing social work, psychology, law or medical degree to get some firsthand experience within the HM Prison & Probation Service. All other disciplines welcome.
To apply to this project you must be 21 years or older.
This volunteering opportunity allows you to gain direct experience within mental health, police and challenging behaviour. The role will be working with ex sexual offenders.
You will be volunteering in a 'circle' of four volunteers per ex-offender. You will receive a two day training session and supervision. For the first 4 - 6 weeks circles will be held in secure premises.
These Circles help prevent further victims of sexual abuse as they help those who have caused sexual harm to take responsibility for their actions and to make positive changes in their lives.
For this project, there is a three-step application process.
Step 1: There will be a compulsory talk held, whereby you can decide if the volunteering project is right for you and ask any questions you may have about the volunteering role. Monday 3rd February room 4G in the student union 1730 to 1930.
Step 2: There is an application form and security checks to go through.
Step 3: There will be two days of mandatory training.
Please note this is a very valuable and insightful volunteering role, Step 1 and 2 will not be rearranged if you cannot attend the date.
