Come join one of Cardiff unis most distinctive societies for an adventurous and singularly unique experience. Our beginner sessions are extremely accessible to newcomers, so there’s no need to worry as you explore our glorious local cave, Ogof Ffynnon Ddu. Being the third longest cave in britain, as well as its deepest, this system offers great opportunities for our beginner trips, as well as more intense ones throughout the year! In these trips you will get a little taste of everything that caving has to offer, with extraordinary views and atmosphere promised, as well as even better company. All caving equipment is provided by us, it’s just left to you is to bring some comfortable clothes to wear underneath and an affinity for the unknown. With club caving trips running weekly throughout the term, these sessions are an ideal place to get a taste for something new and exciting, with additional beginner trips available if you missed our original give it a go sessions. Please wear old clothes, running gear is ideal i.e. leggings/jogging trousers (NO JEANS), thick socks (you’ll be wearing wellies), two layers (t-shirt/thermal and hoodie/jogging top). Plus bring a complete change of clothes, a towel, a warm jacket, something to eat, a bottle of water and any medication you might need.
