Student Safety Forum
Student safety is a top priority for Cardiff Students’ Union. Your Sabbatical Officers have committed to holding a Safety Forum to review current initiatives and actions in place and gather thoughts and feedback from students around what future initiatives could be developed to keep students safe.
The Safety Forum will be delivered in partnership with the University Disclosure Response Team and South Wales Police, who will provide updates on their own remits and will provide support to the discussions for future improvements.
There will be a focus on some of the initiatives developed by Cardiff Students’ Union to support students in our own venues and across our services, we are keen that these discussions do not focus on this one aspect of safety and instead have a wider view of safety in the city overall.
The event format will be as follows:
> Overview of current safety measures
> Breakout groups (Spiking, Sexual Harassment & Safety in the city)
> Review break out group actions
Please note:To conduct this meeting in a safe manner, we want to make clear that this space will not be set up to receive personal disclosures or individual complaints from attendees. We strongly encourage anyone who has been personally affected by an incident or any of the topics discussed to seek support in advance of the event. To make a disclosure you can do that by contacting the University Disclosure Response Team. If you wish to make a complaint about incidents or give feedback regarding a Students’ Union event or service, you can do that by emailing SUCustomerService@cardiff.ac.uk
The forum will be focused on gathering feedback and solutions for the future and on occasions may result in discussing sensitive topics. Please do only attend if you feel you are able to be involved in conversations of this nature.
If you have any specific questions or areas you would like covered in the forum or if you would like more information in advance of attending, please email SUPresident@cardiff.ac.uk
