Bare Necessities volunteering launches ‘Bare Festivities’ and we need your help!
Bare Necessities is a student-led volunteering project aiming to empower communities by providing basic amenities to be clean and comfortable. The project exists as a campaign to support people living in poverty. Charities that we have worked with in the past include: Salvation Army, Women’s Aid, YMCA and ACE Cardiff.
We are excited to announce that we will be running a Christmas appeal called ‘Bare Festivities’ in which we are asking for donations of toiletry essentials and a special Christmas treat to give to those living in poverty.
31% of families in Wales are living below the poverty line and these parcels could provide some much needed help to these individuals. There are over 200 sports clubs and societies at Cardiff University; and even if every society created just 1 box this could create a lot of donations for those that need it this Christmas.
Get together with friends, your housemates, your society or your family to make up a parcel!
Suggested Toiletries include:
- Body Wash
- Wet Wipes
- Sanitary Pads
- Unused Makeup
Please fill a shoebox, basket or bag, state if the parcel is for a female or a male, keep the container unsealed and deliver to the Students Union volunteering department by Friday 10th December so that these parcels can be distributed to those in need for Christmas.
If your financial circumstances mean that you cannot donate yourself, please share our message on social media by posting to your story! If you do, tag us at barenecessities_cardiff
