Mind Your Head

Pen y Fan Walk

Saturday 13 October 2018, 9:30am - 6:30pm

Students' Union, Senghennydd Road

Event Information

To round off Mind Your Head Week why not take a stroll up the stunning Pen y Fan?

As the highest peak in South Wales, there are few places with better views! Put on your walking boots, wrap up warm and blow away the cobwebs. Dont forget your camera, if you cant tweet about it later does it even count?

Important Information

The coach will be leaving at 10:00am from the back of the SU, on Senghenydd Road to get to the base of Pen y Fan for approx 11am. The coach will not wait for you if you are late, so please ensure you are ready to leave by 9:45 am.

The coach will be leaving at 4pm to return to the SU by 6pm. This gives you about 4 hours to go up and down the mountain - plenty of time! Again, the coach will not wait so please stay with the group and ensure you are ready to leave by 3:45pm

The walk itself is of a relative difficulty, you are going up the highest peak in South Wales! Please ensure you are capable of the walk, as you will need to stay with the group. We wont be running up the mountain but we dont want to leave anyone behind.

The walk will be be led by students, they are not official guides but have done the walk before and will be able to lead the way.

A pakced lunch is advised, there are small, mobile food outlets at the base of the peak but you may get peckish on the ascent! Bring water, stay hydrated and please wear suitable footwear. Fashionable though it may be, you cant climb a mountain in heels - this isnt Jurassic World.
