Student Concerns over “Transforming Cardiff” Programme

Your Sabbatical Officer team have written an open letter to Professor Colin Riordan, President and Vice Chancellor of Cardiff University.

Read the letter

Cardiff University is likely to change significantly over the next two years. The University is proposing a program called ‘Transforming Cardiff’ and the Union is facilitating an event for students to discuss these proposals directly with the Vice-Chancellor.

The changes proposed are likely to have a big impact on your University as they plan to address their financial challenges – don’t miss out on a chance to have your say and raise your concerns.

Transforming Cardiff has several key aims:

  • A review of all academic units (Schools) among other reviews of academic priorities
  • Creating a single professional service that suits the needs of all students – including the creation of Student Hubs across the campus replacing School Offices
  • Improving methods of measuring teaching quality and the programmes you study on
  • Reviewing research entities and improving the support for research income generation
  • Reducing the ‘campus footprint’ and review ways in which the university can use its current buildings to generate income

Put your questions, ideas and concerns directly to the Vice Chancellor and other members of the University’s senior management team. This event is organised by the University and it will be facilitated by an independent chair, Students’ Union President Fadhila A. Al Dhahouri.

Event details: Tuesday 19th February 15:30 – 16:30, Great Hall, Cardiff University Students’ Union.
