Looming in the valley just beyond Cardiff is a turreted castell, surrounded by beech woodland. Yet this is not an ordinary castell. Though it’s history dates as far back as the 13th century, the glitzy Victorian extravagance is what you’ll experience today. The décor highlights the degree of perfectionism, abundant in the array of paintings, the depth of the colours and the complexity of the pattens that you’ll find within the walls. It is no wonder that this is regularly voted by the public as their favourite building in Wales.
In the ancient woodland you’ll find plenty of marked paths & routes, and even a sculpture trail.
