Societies and Volunteering Fair - Day 1

Thursday 30 September 2021, 10am - 5pm

1st floor

Event Information

The Guild of Societies and Cardiff Volunteering will be taking over our Freshers' Events on Thursday 30th September and Friday 1st October, with completely different societies and volunteering projects represented each day. Come along and meet all of our fantastic student groups and projects on the 1st floor of the Students’ Union building.

For accessibility access, please enter the building from the Senghennydd Road entrance and use the internal lift.

Societies

As part of a Society, you'll be able to meet like-minded people, discover the passion you never knew you had and make the best friends a student could wish for. From Baking to Debating, Skydiving to Scouting, there really is something for everyone. Check out our full list of Societies here. You'll also be able to find out about Society Give it a Go events, so you can try before you buy!

So pop down to the Students' Union, fill up on free food and join a society or three. It may be the best decision you make! And don't forget to come back tomorrow to meet the rest of our Societies.

How much does it cost to join a Society?

You have to pay a basic £6 fee (which is subject to change each year) to be a member of the Guild of Societies. This fee covers insurance, administrative support and contributes to the annual grants fund but once you've paid you're good to take part in as many societies as you want. Each society has their own specific joining fee.

Volunteering

Volunteering is a great way to gain valuable employability skills and experience that looks great on a CV, as well as helping to make a difference in your new local community. You’ll also get to meet loads of new people and have a lot of fun! Cardiff Volunteering offers a wide variety of different and exciting projects to choose from to fit around your University schedule - so whether it’s walking dogs at the local rescue, befriending at hospitals or helping to teach pupils in local schools – there really is something for everyone!

You can also find out about our Lead Volunteer positions (leading to a Diploma of Professional Development in Leadership).

Come along to find out more and sign up to our projects and don’t forget to check out Friday’s Fair too when more volunteering opportunities will be on offer.
