Q: How do I find out about the hikes?

A: We run hikes every Saturday and Sunday during term. The details of these hikes are sent out to all members on Wednesday evening via email.

Sign ups will open on the Student Union website on Thursday 7pm and close 6pm the day before the hike. The exact imformation will be sent out to those on the sign up list at 6pm the day before the hike.

Q: Do I need to wear hiking boots?

A: We'd recommend wearing hiking boots, but some sturdy shoes you don't mind getting muddy work too! But we highly suggest hiking boots due to their grip and ankle support!

Q: What do I need to wear?

A: Check the weather forecast in advance and dress appropriately. However, being in Wales - be prepared to experience four seasons in an hour. It's always better to carry a few extra layers and always bring a waterproof jacket.

Q: Do I need experience?

A: You do not need any experience. We offer easier and harder hikes. The distance and overall difficulty is stated in the weekly email. You might want start on the easier hikes before you go for the harder hikes.

Q: Do I need to be a member?

A: You'll have to be a member of the club to join us on hikes apart from GIAG sessions at the start of the year. We sometimes offer additional give it a go sessions or joint trips with other societies though.

Q: Do you climb mountains?

A: While we do some hill-walking, and easy scrambles, e.g. up Tryfan or Sgurr Alasdair, we don't climb as such.
