What does your job actually entail? What do you see as your main responsibilities?
The IMG Chair basically coordinates all aspects of the IMG both netball and football. The fundamental responsibilities are generating and publishing weekly fixtures, collecting and recording results, reporting to the Gair Rhydd IMG Sports Editors/Reporters and ensuring that the IMG leagues run smoothly. Whilst these are the basic responsibilities of the IMG Chair, his/her (my) role is not limited and there are many more opportunities for expansion and improvement of the IMG.
What do you think the job demands in terms of personal attributes or skills?
The roles requires a well organised, approachable, friendly and resourceful person. Ideally the IMG Chair should be knowledgeable of the way in which the IMG leagues are played, however this can be easily learnt and adapted.
What do you enjoy most about the job?
I've enjoyed the role immensely; meeting, working and socialising with people within the IMG has been brilliant however also getting involved with the Exec and AU is very interesting, exciting and enjoyable.
What are the challenges/obstacles you face?
Taking on the role of IMG I obviously had my own vision/ideas about running and moving forward with the IMG, the difficulties I faced were trying to please the people involved with the IMG (captains, players, managers etc) whilst adapting and getting to know how the Students Union and the AU runs, this and balancing my degree and the IMG Chair role!
Would you recommend your role? If so, why?
Definitely! It's a great opportunity for personal development, I've enjoyed the role immensely and there is a continued sense of achievement when I see the IMG, how it's running and when I meet people who play within it!
