These are all full-time, paid positions on the Students' Union Executive Committee. The elected student representatives are in office for one year, either on a sabbatical from their degree or after graduating.
The Sabbatical Officers are the primary representatives of the student body. They promote the interests of our members at institutional, local, national and international levels to effect change and achieve direct benefits for students.
Sabbatical Officers are responsible for ensuring that the mission statement, aims, constitution and policy of Cardiff University Students' Union are upheld.
As trustees of Cardiff University Students' Union, and Directors of Cardiff Union Services Ltd., they are responsible for:
- Ensuring all stakeholders' views are represented and needs considered.
- Communicating effectively with members to act as a signpost within the Students' Union, and acting as a conduit for dialogue between students and their institution, the University of Cardiff.
- Working with managers and staff to develop and implement strategic plans, and managing and implementing projects in line with these plans and Union policy.
- Monitoring trends, operations and service provision, and financial scrutiny of management action. Participating in recruitment panels.
- Complying with good governance principles in finance, employment and the law.
- Reporting regularly to Union meetings on individual areas of responsibility and activity.
- Supporting all committees and non-sabbatical officers to carry out their duties effectively.
