Key Dates for Cardiff University Students' Union Elections 2008
MONDAY, 11th FEBRUARY:
'Are You Interested In Standing For Election?' 6pm, TV lounge, 3rd floor Union. We would strongly recommend that any students interested in standing for election come along to one of our informal evening sessions, designed to give potential candidates all the information they need.
MONDAY, 18th FEBRUARY:
The Elections Information Team hit the streets of Cardiff. The team will be out and about around the Union and University in the run up to and during the campaigning period, armed with official, impartial information and telling you all you need to know in order to fully exercise your voting right. You can also email any questions to elections@cardiff.ac.uk
THURSDAY, 21st FEBRUARY:
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Cardiff University Students' Union. Great Hall, 1st floor Union, 6.30pm. The agenda includes the official launch of the 2008 Elections, and the Elections Information Team will be milling around to answer any questions you may have. FRIDAY 22nd FEBRUARY:

MONDAY 25th FEBRUARY:
NOMINATIONS OPEN. The nomination form and details on how to stand for election can be found here. All forms must be submitted by the deadline (see below).
FRIDAY 29th FEBRUARY:
NOMINATIONS CLOSE at 3pm. Nomination foms submitted after this deadline will not be accepted under any circumstances.
Candidates Meeting: Aneurin Bevan, 4th floor Union, 5pm. All candidates must also attend the official candidates meeting, for a briefing from the official elections Returning Officer.
Saturday 1st March - Sunday 9th March: Ballot slips are finalised and printed. Candidates prepare their manifestos, podcasts and individual campaign materials.
MONDAY 10th MARCH:
10am: The candidates are officially announced and campaigning starts. Candidate manifestos and video clips will be available here. Manifestos will also feature in the gair rhydd, our free weekly student newspaper. Elections coverage will feature in gair rhydd, on CUTV and on Xpress Radio, although no comment on individual candidates will be allowed. 10pm: Deadline for postal voting requests. If you are unable to access a polling station on voting days (Monday 17th and Tuesday 18th March), submit your request for a postal vote here.
TUESDAY 11th MARCH:
Student Council, Aneurin Bevan, 4th floor Union, 6.30pm. The election candidates will present themselves to student councillors.
WEDNESDAY 12th MARCH:
Question Time. 7pm, Great Hall, 1st floor Students' Union. We cannot recommend this enough. All students are encouraged to come along to meet and question the candidates. Last year's event was an exciting, nerve-wracking and memorable night.
MONDAY 17th MARCH:
Voting Begins. Click here for details on how to vote, and for the full list of polling locations and times.
TUESDAY 18th MARCH:
Second Day of Voting. Click here for details on how to vote, and for the full list of polling locations and times.
WEDNESDAY 19th MARCH:
The Count Begins. The Returning Officer deals with any complaints received during the campaign period, and the count begins.
THURSDAY 20th MARCH:
Results Night. The count finishes and the election results are announced.
