AGM 2007

The 2007 Annual General Meeting of Cardiff University Students' Union took place on February 21st in the Great Hall.

Items up for debate included the smoking ban, paying non-sabbatical officers and the Students' Union's recently-launched Invest In Sport campaign.

The 700 members who attended decided that the Union should be paying for non-sabbatical (or part-time) officers on the Executive Committee to represent them.  These individuals would still need to be elected in by cross-campus ballot in the usual way and their jobs (such as Heath Campus Officer, Xpress Radio Manager and Athletic Union Vice President) would stay the same.

The AGM also decided that the Students' Union would not spend any money on providing facilities for smokers following the introduction of the smoking ban on April 3rd.  The building of shelters etc was rejected.

AGM committed the Students' Union to a campaign to improve the experience of students at Cardiff University.  Amongst other things, the Union is lobbying the University and other organisations for the improvement of sports facilities, the introduction of a GUM clinic on campus and better quality of teaching and learning.
