The competition began in 2006 to reward students who have made outstanding contributions in their time and University.
2006 - Jos Hutchinson
Cardiff University Students' Union is pleased to announce that the 2006 Honour Roll prize was awarded to Jos Hutchinson.
In her time at University, Jos has made an unimaginable contribution to the life of the Students' Union. She has been heavily involved in student politics, both as an active member of Student Council and as the Disabilities Officer on the Union Executive. In addition, Jos worked hard as part of the Election Committee and on the staff-student panel for her Psychology degree.
Furthermore, Jos was the Vice President of the Psychology Society, helping to organise trips and social events. Jos also committed heavily to organising Traffic, one of the dance music societies. She put together several large Union events including Fusion (an event in Solus at the beginning of the year involving other music societies) and the Boat Monkeys (a night held in CF10 with professional and resident DJs).
Jos is also involved in a lot of charity work, contributing to a group called Orpheus, a disability performing arts centre in Surrey. They hold a week long residential course that requires able bodied people to go and help out as volunteers. So far, Jos attended three or four of these in 2006 and intends on going to help out during the summer as well. Jos also helps out with an after school club, with a girl who has special needs and she was involved in another children's charity at the weekends. She also did some fundraising for the children's hospital by making Christmas cards, and signed up to Race for Life this summer.
For the part she has played in bettering the experiences of so many of her peers, Jos Hutchinson was deservedly awarded with a place on the Honour Roll. Her was the first to appear on the new Honour Roll board located on the third floor of the Students' Union building. In addition, Joss was formally presented with a commemorative pin at her graduation ceremony.
