I’m Ed Dolding your Welfare, Campaigns and Communications Officer.

“A hopeless sailor, a budding airman, charming, ‘witty,’ possessing an athletic, if modest stature..” Ahem. What I mean to say is that I’ve had three top notch years as a Cardiff Uni student and I had the bizarre idea that by running to become one of your representatives, I could strive to ensure you do to!

Thinking back to my own glory days as a fresher, I’ve got one clichéd but tested bit of advice and that’s get involved with as much as you can. Break a leg (literally breaking mine on the fourth day of freshers week in hindsight was regrettable!) You’ll find you really get as much out of uni as you put in.

Of course, moving away to uni will be for many a daunting and manic experience. Fear not however! Your Union, as throughout your time in Cardiff, is here to help. Out and about over ‘Freshers’ will be the brilliant Welcome Crew-students themselves who can offer first hand experience and assistance if you’re in a real pickle or simply give you the nod towards the nearest pub. ARC our advice centre, alongside Nightline, SHAG and a host of others are specialists in all aspects of student life you may face difficulty.

Your Union really does exist to champion your rights and cover your back, as well as offer all you all the brilliant sports clubs and societies that will come to define your University experience.
But enough wind from me. Just sit back and enjoy the ride!
