My name is John Steele and I would like to welcome you to the Student Development Unit, the home of the Student Development Programme.
The Student Development Programme is a curriculum of essential “soft” and personal skills which are not only of benefit to you as a student, but are those upon which employers place real value in today's fast-flowing and competitive world. Student Development courses can also assist you in building up evidence in your Personal Development Planning (PDP) portfolio.
The courses are broken down into two main areas:
1) Certificate of Professional Development
Available in 3 grouped disciplines: Communication; Personal Effectiveness; Leadership.
Each group is divided into 5 separate skills. Certification is attained by attending all 5 sessions in the group.
2) Independent Courses & Sessions
Short courses such as 1st Aid, STEPS To Excellence; "One-off" 2 hour sessions such as Psychometric Testing and longer courses such as Sign Language and Welsh Conversation.
Certificates are awarded for successful completion.
