Education & Welfare
Hi!My name is Kate Monaghan and I am the Education and Welfare Officer. I am based on the third floor of the Students' Union, in the Advice and Representation Centre.
It is my job to attend to issues of an academic and welfare nature for students of the University, no matter which year you are in, or which course you do. I work closely with Course representatives, sit on various university committees, liaise with the Student Support Centre, Residences, Security, NUS,...and much more...!
Most importantly however, I am here to represent student views to the University, and work to resolve individual students' problems. If you have an academic or welfare concern please feel free to come in to see me and have a chat. I work within the Student Advice and Representation Centre, so if I can't help you with your concern, then I can find someone who can. I have an office on the 3rd floor of the Students' Union on Park Place, and also spend time at the Union on the Health Site (MedClub).
You can e-mail me at: monaghank1@Cardiff.ac.uk
Phone: 02920 781428
Fax: 02920781518
If I am out of the office, you can arrange an appointment to see me with Sophie on reception.
PDP
Personal Development Planning (PDP) has been introduced throughout the University. PDP will encourage you to make the most of your student experience through raising your awareness of the variety of opportunities for development, and helping you to represent your skills and experiences to others.

Course Reps
The course rep system is under review this year. To find out who your course representative is, please refer to the tool bar on the right labelled 'Course Reps'. If you can not fine your course, a member of your home department will be able to refer you to your rep. If you are interested in becoming a course rep, please feel free to come into the Students' Union and talk to me, and read the information provided on the 'Course Reps' link opposite.
Hospital Info
On the bar to the right of this there are links to Hospital Information pages. This is for students who will be sent on placements to these hospitals as part of their course.
The information was provided by the hospitals themselves, so if you've been on placement there and would like to add any more information - please contact me.
If you would like to help to produce similar information pages for other hospitals, again please contact me.
