Family Visits Whilst You Are Studying in Cardiff

How can I invite my parents or other family members to visit me whilst I am studying in the UK, or to attend my graduation,  

Your family need to make an application to come to the UK as visitors. The maximum period for a visit is 6 months.  They will need to have a purpose for their visit,  funds for the trip and evidence that they will return home,

How can I help their application?

You can provide them with a letter from yourself, in English,  giving details of your relationship to them and the purpose of the visit.  You should also give them a copy of your visa for the UK, and a copy of the page in your passport containing your personal details.  Also helpful is  a recent  enrolment letter, available from Registry, confirming that you are a student of Cardiff University, or if they are coming for graduation a letter from the University confirming the date of the graduation.  These details will provide the Embassy with evidence of the purpose of their visit.  

What other documents will they need to submit?

They will need to show that they have sufficient funds for the trip (bank statements etc).  They also need to show that they will leave the UK at the end of the visit – for example, a letter from their employer confirming the date they are due back to work.
