For many, Fresher's Week is the highlight of the social year at University, and is a great opportunity to meet new people. As well as the Union-run events, the Music Society has organised other activities that we'd love you to come and get involved in.
Don't feel you have to come to every activity - just come along to those you might be interested in.
A list of what is going on is below, but you can also download it (and a map...just in case you get lost!) using the links at the bottom of this page.

Monday 25th September - Meet and Greet
This is a good chance to meet people on your course, and also an easy way to make new friends. We (the commitee) will be meeting you at the FRONT ENTRANCE of your halls at the following times - the matter of where in the halls we were meeting you (important at big ones like Talybont and Uni Hall) was accidentally missed off the letter we sent out so please take note now!

Victoria Hall 7.40
Aberconway Hall 7.50
Talybont 7.30 (by Court Reception on North Road)
Colum Hall 7.45
Aberdare Hall 7.55
University Hall 7.30 (at the gates)
Cartwright Court 7.30

Gordon Hall 7.20
Senghennydd Court 7.30 (by the gate)
Senghennydd Court 7.40
We will all be meeting up at the Music Department at 8:00pm, before we leave at about 8:10pm to walk to Inncognitos (29 Park Place) for a few drinks until about 10:00pm. After that we will be moving on elsewhere depending how busy it is.
Tuesday 26th September - Quiz Night
We will be meeting at 7:15pm at the Music Department and we will start to walk down at 7:30pm. If you can't meet us at the Department we will be at the Pen and Wig (Museum Road - near the SU) from 7:45pm. It doesn't matter how much pub knowledge you know, or even don't know, this will be a great opportunity to learn some interesting and useless facts. It is also another chance to get to know and meet more new friends!
Wednesday 27th September - Jazz Night
Again we'll be meeting at the Music Department at 8:00pm to walk down to Café Jazz (21 St Mary Street) for 8:30pm. Entrance is usually £3, and we won't know what band is playing until we get there, but it is a good chance for everyone to enjoy some jazz and get to know each other a bit better as the week progresses!
Thursday 28th September - Latin Dancing
Last years committee came up with the brilliant idea of going to a dancing lesson, and due to the success and comedy of seeing certain people attempt to dance, this years Freshers Week couldn't go without a bit of Cha-cha-cha! We will be meeting at 8:00pm at the Music Department and leaving there at about 8:10pm walk to Club Risa (next to Cardiff Central Station). It will be about £4 entry.
Friday 29th September - Pub Crawl!
We couldn't organise Fresher's Week without the traditional Friday night pub crawl - complete with fancy dress! There's no theme for the dress, and you don't have to dress up if you don't want to, but it normally adds to the fun. There are plenty of photos on this website if you need some more inspiration! We finish up at Jumpin' Jaks where we can dance the night away and revise those latin moves if you really want to!
Here is our planned route:
7:30pmThe Taf (Students Union)
8:15pmLloyds (Greyfriars Rd.)
8:45pmPrince of Wales (St. Mary St.)
9:15pm The Square (St. Mary St)
10:00pmJumpin' Jaks (Millennium Plaza)
Saturday 30th September - Picnic and Games (weather permitting!)
As long as the weather is good we will be going to Coopers Field for about *1.30pm*. We will meet at 1:00pm at the Music Department and walk down. Bring frisbees, footballs, rugby balls etc. and we'll have a few games. If everyone brings a little food we can put it all together and have a bit of a picnic. I will confirm whether we are doing this on the Friday, so keep your ears open.
