TAEKWON-DO: TOURNAMENTS

All results from any tournaments that anyone from our club enters will be posted here. Make that sure you keep me up to date if you enter anything by yourself. On this page are results only from the academic year 2003 - 2004 because of the new cardiffStudents website.

We have a very strong club team and this year there should be many competitions to enter. It is important to show your support for the club. The more people who enter or go along to support, the more enjoyable the day becomes. Hearing people cheer as you score a nice axe-kick to head fills you with confidence and gives you an extra burst of energy.

22.11.2003 UKTA British Championship and Four Nations

Name Patterns Sparring Erastus Muhia BRONZE (Yellow - Green belt, Light Weight) Paul Lawrence Bronze (Blue belt) Ian Jones GOLD (Yellow - Green belt, Light Weight)

This was the British Championships for the UKTA and is therefore a very large tournament with as many as 30 people in some of the events. The standard of competitors was very high as well. As well as being an open tournament it is also the 4 Nations Championships where teams from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales compete for the title. As our instructor Mr Dean Matthew was captain of the Welsh squad I feel it appropriate to congratulate him and his team for a superb display. They were awarded Silver in the Patterns and Gold in the Sparring.

It was an honour to be invited to another organisation's tournament and a very enjoyable experience, especially since everyone who entered from our club came away with a big bit of metal. Celebrations for this mad weekend of tournaments was held with our new sponsor Varsity.
Everyone who competed did exceptionally well, even if you didn't win anything. The support for the club was fantastic, thank you all for entering. Since this was a few peoples first tournament, i think they deserve a special "well done". So, urrm, "Well Done!".
