BUSA Draw.

06.02.04
The draw for the BUSA semi-finals grouped Cardiff's men's team with Birmingham, Oxford and Leeds. The games which will take place at Walsall Gala Baths on the 6th of March will see Cardiff face up to two of this year's surprise packages. Oxford produced one of the biggest shocks in recent years when they knocked out Loughborough in the first round and Birmingham topped their first round group, leaving BUSA champions Sheffield in second place and knocking out last year's finalists Nottingham.
Chairman Tim Marshall said "No disrespect to any of the other teams but I think the draw gives us an excellent chance of progressing."

Jeepers 'Keepers

First Dave Blythin did it against Exeter, then Tim Marshall made a similar blunder against Oxford. We have to ask the question "What is wrong with our Goalkeepers?", can't they just stay in goal?

More importantly "Who's blunder was worse?".
Dave swam out of goal to seven metres for no reason and the Exeter 'keeper scored.
Tim passed the ball to one of their players when half the Cardiff team was free, and then couldn't get back in goal in time to svae the resulting shot.

Men through to semis after narrow victory over Bristol.

Cardiff University Men's Water Polo team qualified for the BUSA semi-finals in March after a thrilling victory over last year's runners-up Bristol and a 22-4 humiliation of Exeter.

Despite going 3-0 down in the first quarter Cardiff were marginaly the better team eventually running out 13-12 winners.

In the next match Bristol beat Exeter 12-5. Cardiff ran riot in the weekend's final game Cardiff thrashed Exeter, who despite their two defeats won't be relegated as Swansea withdrew and will be playing in the BUSA sheild next year.

The usual antics followed the match, Cardiff proved that polo ability is inversley proportional to drinking ability with a humiliating last place in the three way boat race. Paul "Lego" Evans had his pubes shaved off and then fell over, split his head open and went to hospital.

The draw for the semi-finals will be seeded with two first round group winners in each semi-final along with two runners-up from the first round.

Group winners: Cardiff, Newcastle, Birmingham, London.
Runners-up: Bristol, Leeds, Sheffield, Oxford.
