Our Tournament!

In a style befitting the true athlete I turned up to our tournament with a suitably significant hangover, a sense of disorientation, and a general lack of motivation - to get things started. Add to that the fact our committee had to reorganise the tournament structure, due to confusion over the number of courts available to us at differing times, and all signs pointed to chaos.

Luckily no one else is as lazy as me, and things were soon sorted, and off to a flying start. Cardiff Uni entered three teams to allow our massive the chance to all get significant court time, whilst other entrants included: teams from as far a field as Nottingham and Oxford; teams as experienced as the mighty Cardiff all-stars (Uni players from yesteryear); and Cardiff City - run away winners of our league last season.

Now this is where I get hazy… we had three teams, and a lot of players who scored a lot of goals. I don't actually remember any of the scores, scorers, results or many of the placings. I do know however that Cardiff Uni All-Stars won the tournament after beating Cardiff Uni I in the semi-final, and overcoming city club Taunton in the final. I also remember that Cardiff Uni I beat Bristol Uni I 2-1 in the third place playoff. Get in!

The social had a Halloween theme - with costumes ranging from the spectacular (Sam the “bloody psycho” from Nottingham was it?) to the downright lazy…. Jack “I'm a vampire” Newman.

Things kicked off in Central Bar, where the participants chowed down on bargain nosh, and began the process of inebriation. Penny's were put in motion, pitchers were downed, boat races were won and lost, even a pint of Guinness was downed without the use of hands…

Suitably slurred the faithful made their way on to Bar Cuba, where a great deal of boogie was accomplished, and young Rich did his bit to strengthen interclub relations. Don't really remember much else from the night except that there was some sort of offer on bottles, and I got to know one of you a little better than before.

That's about it for the write up. Promise I'll do better next time.
