BUSA National Championship (Nottingham)
Ok funny things to remember about this weekend. I'm gonna just jot them down as I remember them and may organise it at a later stage. Right,Friday night - minibus journey was long and boring without a radio and somewhat cold with a gale blowing thru the hole in the door. Got to Nottingham just in time to miss last orders at the pub but not at the chip shop. The girls patriotically painted there nails in red and black while Ramzi amused himself with a game of solitaire with his porn cards.
Saturday morning - left with plenty of time to get to the sports hall, good job coz as usual a combination of Matt and Breese in the front seats meant we got momentarily lost. The games were good, the tourni was a bit of a shams but nevermind. Finished the day having lost a quarter final, looking forward to battling it out for 5th the next day. So back to the hotel, shower, glad rags, and out.
Starving! Sat in pizza hut, stealing the ice cream sprinkles to keep us alive til our food finally got there. Munchies, then to the pub thru the snow in time for last orders, got chased round the pub by the bouncer who was trying to kick us out. Still thirsty, Jen took us to Templers Bar. More social drinking but the day's korfball 'court' up so we bailed and went back to the hotel.
Morning, another full english, Kristina playing with her food. Matt and Breese lead the way to the sports centre, not getting lost! But making Ceri run every red light en route. Beat Bristol! (why can't we do that in the league) Then had to wait 3 hours for our last game so where better to waste some time than in a pub. Bit of minibus gynastics! But the pubs were obviously not as hardcore as us, as they were not open yet. Ceri did ask if we could sit quietly in the corner til they opened but we were turned away. Found another pub, sat around in there, bit of grub, pool, crosswords, kip. Then back to the hall for our final game. Beat Cambridge and ended up 5th. Yay! Stuck around to cheer on UEA as they played Sheffield Hallam Poly in the final. While we waited Breese couldn't resist a go on the scales and had a bit of a shock. Anyway went hoarse cheering for UEA, Grace was out shouting the Hallam Poly drum. Hallam Poly won so we left before the presentation.
Jumped in the bus, Mc Ds, Breese the window cleaner. Still no radio so Matt and Breese delighted the audience/captives with their rendition of 'Oh when the Saints'. Several times! Got back to cardiff in time to get egged by a passing car, have a shower and get to the curry house. Hmm... a well deserved stuffing! Then home to bed for a good nights sleep.
