Match Report - Wednesday 23rd February.
Thought I would start the reports from here as my memory doesnt go back much further, maybe something to do with alcohol consumption. This was a biggie, BUSA championship, local derby vs UWIC. All the talk from the UWIC camp was of cricket scores, fags and cups of tea but we ran them close in a game that could easily have swung our way. The first UWIC goal came early, and was crap from our point of view. Header from a corner, marking non existant. Still we regrouped and created a few chances, while the defence held firm. They grabbed a second goal five minutes from time with a good long range strike but we proved that we can compete with the best (apparently).Match Report - Wednesday 2nd March
Welsh Cup quarter final and we found ourselves up the valleys at Glamorgan. The weather was horrendus and the game should never have started. Still we dealt with the conditions well and took a lead when Sabrina poked home my cross. I slipped as I was playing it and fell in something that I'm seriously doubting was mud. Ceri spent most of the game on her back, just warming up for the evening I suppose. Aileen grabbed a second with a good finish after a burst up the wing, she's actually quite fast when (and I mean occasionally) she runs, just kidding. Georgia struck home a third and just as we were beggining to think the job was done the referee (who I'm sure resembled somebody from the Beano, cant think of the name) decided to abandon the game due to the weather. Seeing as it was raining at the start and the mens game was continuing on the pitch next to us, we found this rather suspicious, personally I just think the ref was knackered. Marion did her best to get the result to stand but we were told we had to play the game again, at Glamorgan, from scratch. One word, w*@%$&sMatch Report - Wednesday 14th April
First game back after Easter, the "replay" against Glamorgan. We agreed to play the game even though we had had only one training session (yes only one Hertford and we still managed to play). Thankfully we gave Glamorgan the spanking they deserved, 6 - 1 the final score. Must give the Mothership a mention for her thumping header although I'm sure she had her eyes shut. A helicopter landed on the pitch next to us which was rather random. Supersub Bunting nothced another goal, to go with the efforts from Alex, Aileen, Mothership Sabrina and Jess B (I think). All in all a good day especially when they asked me if they could bring a girl back on after one of their players got injured aand they had used all their subs, the answer was no of course, ooh I'm such a bitch.Match Report - Wednesday 27th April
Varsity and Welsh Cup semi final, a game of massive importance. The day nearly got off to a bad start after I left my Boost bar in the changing room, luckily Neil had a finger (of twix of course) on hand to sort me out. We started the game well and missed several chances before Alex volleyed home from the edge of the box. i added a second after 'accidently' (yeah yeah) blocking Sabrinas shot before smashing it home with the wand. We got a bit of luck with the third goal, their full back shouldered the ball into the net whilst attempting to commando roll out of the way of Sabrinas shot. Second half was pretty uneventful, think we should work on our shooting and crossing, it was pretty dire, myself included. Special needs of the match is def Jess Baker, I'm through on goal but put it out as Jess is on the floor injured and I thought she was in agony, only for her to get straight back up and walk off saying, I'm fine. Thats nice work Jess, nice! Ever reliable supersub Bunting added a fourth, roll on the final next week!Match Report-Wednesday 4th May
Welsh Cup Final, after an interesting journey down which I had to spend sat next to Fraser, gutted, (only kidding haha), we came up against Aber, again. After a lengthy warm up (thanks Neil), and half a boost bar we were off to a flyer and 4-0 up at half time. Not sure how the officials kept up with the game as their combined ages was at least 300, they were right dinosaurs! Aileen toe-poked in the first, and I grabbed the second with the wand. Abers Sam slid in an og (sorry Aileen we have to give her the credit) before Bunting tapped in after their keeper palmed Alex Nads shot. After the break, for the first twenty mins, it was more of the same. I smashed in a fifth (i'm not being big headed but it was awesome, haha) before everything started going Pete Tong. It would be easy to blame fitness but I think we were just genuinely playing like a bunch of spackers. They pulled three goals back, (well they scored two, Sammy's arse gave them one) but we held on to win the cup for the second year in succession.
Match Report-Thursday9th June - friendly vs Engin
This was our annual charity game against the engin boys, fancy dress was the usual high standard, the men dressed as ladies and we went for OAP's. Comb overs are not practical for playing football but I think Laura has to take the applause, those rollers were pretty special. Neil left his Grandad confined to his rocking chair for a day by nabbing his walking stick. The effort from the guys was equally impressive, Welshy even wearing a thong which I think was eating into him by the end of the game. The game took place at talybont astro which was pretty funny when real old people started tending to their plants in the allotments next to the pitch. Think some of the grannies fancied me and jess (Fred and Albert). The game itself was well contested, engin stormed into an early 3-0 lead but like a thief in the night Neil sneaked up to grab a hat-trick and equalise. Further goals from Jess, Sabrina and the Engin meant that the game finished level at 5-5 and went to penalties. Obvoisly much practice is needed in this department as the final score was only 2-1, with the winning pen stroked home from Supersub Bunting.
Over £100 was raised over the course of the day and I would like to thank Steve for organising everything but I think Becky has already beaten me to it, haha. Had a cracking night out on the Thurs (apparently) and even made my interview at ten in the morn, even though I looked like I'd been dragged through a hedge backwards, could only manage 4 keep ups and couldn't run in a straight line. Any response to any of the match reports can be made on the message board. Ciaou for now, C U next year.
