An emphatic team showing saw Cardiff bounce back from a goal behind to humiliate the unbeaten and current league champions UWIC and give them their third straight win. UWIC 3rds have only dropped points twice in the last 2 years, both times to Cardiff 2's with this result and a 3-3 draw at the start of the season.
After going one down mid way through the first half Cardiff hit back as Gunyon sold half the defence with a top draw shimmy and then powered the ball past the keeper. The second followed quickly as Green took a throw in to put Stallone clear and one on one with the keeper, who was hapless to stop the deft near post shot. The score was made 3-1 just before half time as Green burst into opposition's half and drew the defence before slipping the ball to captain Johns who whipped the ball into the corridor of uncertainty and was turned into their own net by a UWIC defender. Leaving Cardiff with an unlikely 3-1 lead at half time.
Strong defending and a slice of luck, with UWIC hitting the bar, kept UWIC at bay early in the second half, allowing the lively Cardiff front pairing to flourish and with a breakaway attack Johns crossed only for striker Hyde to be wrestled to the floor. Hyde picked himself up and converted the penalty nonchalantly. The crowd didn't have to wait long for the wrought to continue as UWIC were hit by another Cardiff counter attack with the Italian marksman Paolo blasting home from short range. The result was capped off as Hyde broke clear only to be clinically scythed down by the goalkeeper. He again dusted himself off to convert the penalty sending the keeper the wrong way to notch his 7th goal in the last 4 BUSA games.
This leaves Cardiff 2's back in the running lying 2nd in the league after a poor start to the season, showing great bouncebackability, and only 3 points behind leaders UWIC. They now have three consecutive league victories, to pile on the pressure at the top.
