The next big event on the art soc calendar is 'Go Global' at the union. It's a 2 week event organised by the union to show-case what all the societies do with their time. There are so many talented people at Cardiff and Go Global is where we get to see what everyone gets up to in their various societies. There is loads going on, lots of live music, dance and theatre performances and a beer festival among other things.

As far as we're concerned the most important day of Go Global is Tuesday 19th of Feb from 6pm -10pm.
That’s when all us arty people are going to meet up in the Aunerin Bevan Room (top of the union) and make an amazing globally themed collage to be displayed in the union for the rest of the year. Hopefully loads of non-art soc members will get involved as well. The Plan---- the collage is going to be four foot by eight foot and can consist of absolutely anything we want. the idea is that each person gets a square of white card and you then use any materials you like, paint/charcoal/pasta/fabric/glitter/pencil drawings/cartoons/magazine cut-outs to interpret any country or culture you want (it doesn’t have to be your own, maybe somewhere you've been and have collected bit and bobs you can use on your square).
We'll be providing loads of stuff as well some visual inspiration to get the international ideas flowing! If you have things you’d like to use, eg sketches you’ve done, pictures you like, pretty bits of fabric or interesting art materials you haven’t got round to using- bring them along, even if you don’t use them yourself, all contributions are welcome.
We’re really keen for this to be the coolest thing ever made and I know you guys have the artistic genius for this to be the case! Who knows, if it’s really amazing maybe we'll get a prize at the 2008 societies awards ball, (to which you are all invited more details to follow but for future refs its on the 26th april and a bargain at £15.)
At the end of the night the committee and I will assemble the collage from your squares on the wooden frame and finish the whole thing off. We’re looking for maximum participation here, if you haven’t been to anything art soc related yet this year this is the ideal opportunity. You can come and go at any time throughout the evening and all your friends are welcome to come and make a square.
