Events

Every year the Athletic Union holds a number of events that are central to the Union's calendar.

It's quite an amazing experience when thousands of students come together for one common passion - SPORT! Or in the case of the Varsity match every student in the University having one common passion - smashing Swansea!

Sports Fayre

This years annual Sports Fayre will take place on Friday 28th September 2007 in the Great Hall from 10am - 4pm. This is probably the most popular event of Freshers - last year the foot flow into the Great hall clocked in at over 10,000!!

At the Fayre all the AU sports clubs will be present so it's a great chance to take a look around and see what club takes your fancy. You can sign up to the sports club of your choice then and there. Getting involved in sport couldn't be easier

One Fayre, 59 sports clubs... make sure you get involved in the greatest part of our Students' Union - the AU! Fact

IMG Fayre

At the IMG fayre, teams that successfully registered the previous Friday will have the opportunity to recruit members. Similarly, potential IMG players will have the chance to see what team they would like to play for. With over 2,000 IMG members, this event will be buzzing. If you're interested in being part of the most talked about IMG programmes in Wales, make sure you come along to the Fayre.

AU Chartiy Dance-off

This event takes place at Rubber Duck on one Wednesday during November. Members of each sport's team put together a dance routine as celebrity judges grade the teams.

There are some events in the Union that once you have been you will never forget: this is one of them!

Last year, 10 teams competed, raising £300 for Sport Relief.

Varsity

The Varsity match is a day out for every Cardiff student whether you're sporting or not. The day time sees over 20 sports teams from Cardiff and Swansea Universities competing against each other with the evening seeing the showpiece rugby fixture that last year attracted 5,200 students at Cardiff Arms Park.

AU Awards

The awards night see those who have achieved great things on and off the pitch for University Sports clubs awarded by the Athletic Union. This is a glamourous night where sports people and teams wait on the edge of their seat to see whether a year's blood sweat and tears representing the University has been recognised.
