At Cardiff University you have a great opportunity to get involved in various sports, and the best thing is that we offer opportunities for beginners to elite performers.
To participate in the activities you must first become a member of your club. During freshers week at the start of the autumn term there is the SPORTS FAYRE where clubs set out a stalls in the Great Hall of the Students’ Union. It’s a chance to find out what the clubs are about, where and when they compete and practice. However, joining a club throughout the year could not be easier, email the club and see when the best time to meet them, join the club by paying the club membership fee and get a receipt and fill in a membership form.
To become a fully fledged member of the club you have to become a member of the Athletic Union, obtainable on the day of the SPORTS FAYRE or the AU office. The club receipt and membership form is needed and costs just £5, this gives you insurance, discounted entry to the sports night out at the Students’ Union, called ‘Rubber Duck’, and discounted of circuits costs held by the University. Any member of a sports club is entitled to a smock top, with the name of the club of a cool waterproof training top.
