Event Information
"In the history of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people Wales is rarely mentioned. Yet the country has played an enormous role in shaping that history. Norena Shopland, a historian specialising in Welsh LGBT heritage, illustrates the role Wales has played in a fascinating and challenging past."
Norena Shopland, the former project manager of Pride Cymru (one of Cardiff's leading LGBT+ charities), will be giving a talk on how the people of Wales contributed to LGBT History and its knock on effect on society, the law, etc. As an author, historian and promenant LGBT rights activist, Shopland will no doubt give an interesting and stimulating insight into the history of LGBT+ rights in Wales and is certainly not one to be missed!
Tickets are completely free and there will be the opportunity on the night to make a donation to Pride Cymru, though this is not necessary to gain entry to the talk. This talk is also not limited to HistorySoc members but open to everyone and anyone with an interest in LGBT+ History so please bring people! (just make sure they have a free ticket)
