Operatic Society

We are the Cardiff University Operatic Society, and we aim to promote and encourage the appreciation and performance of operatic repertoire. Over the course of the academic year we provide great performance opportunities, including a Gala concert in the Autumn semester and a full production before Easter.

We are dedicated to rehearsing and performing, but also find time to enjoy a variety of socials and charity fundraisers throughout the year, including movie nights, a Christmas meal, carol singing, themed socials, and trips to support other local opera companies (which include the WNO, Opera'r Ddraig, the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and Bristol Opera).

Whether you are interested in performing (vocally or instrumentally), directing, producing, advertising or stage managing, we are keen to involve everyone and would love to hear from you!

Production

This year's production is 'Orpheus and Eurydice' by Gluck; a retelling of the Greek myth with a number of principle roles and chorus opportunities. If you are interested in participating in this production please send us a message on our Facebook page or email us at OperaticSociety@cardiff.ac.uk, where we'd be happy to provide more information about this exciting event!
