Megan’s role is to co-ordinate all welfare campaigns and help to raise awareness about issues affecting students. Megan oversees student-led welfare services and works with ARC, the SDS and the University’s Support Service to co-ordinate welfare provision and support for students. She also works to ensure that the Union is committed to its environmental policy and its corporate social responsibility.
I’ve recently graduated in Journalism and Sociology and thoroughly enjoyed my course. Just as important as the degree I studied was my involvement in the Students’ Union, which I felt make my student experience in Cardiff even better. I’m hoping to draw on my experience as President of People and Planet society and member of Student Council to campaign to ensure that students at Cardiff are happy, healthy and love their time here.
I aim to make Welfare a huge part of the Students’ Union. I believe that Students’ Unions should be all about developing change and spreading new ideas, so I’m really looking forward to working with students to create many new exciting campaigns and initiatives at Cardiff. Some of my ideas include creating an app to help inform students about the services the Students’ Union provides and creating a safe taxi scheme for students. My major focus areas this year will be improving mental health provision for students, improving housing advice and awareness and ensuring that the Students’ Union engages with the wide community.
