Harry is the figurehead of your Students’ Union, and oversees and co-ordinates the work of the Elected Officer team.

Introducing Harry

I have spent the past year as Societies Officer at Cardiff Students’ Union, a role which has seen me act as Deputy Chair of the Board, working closely with the President to achieve our objectives. I believe that my observations from this role have left me perfectly placed to lead the new Elected Officer team.

Harry’s Objectives

I plan to work hard to push the Union towards achieving recognition as a modern, progressive organisation, through a raft of measures. These include: improving the look and feel of the Union building, including redevelopment of the front of the building and the second floor; developing our presence across both campuses with a view to improving student awareness of our services; as well as improving our online presence in order to make all of our services accessible through one website.

I am also committed to collaborating with the University to ensure that our students benefit from the considerable changes occurring not just in our own University management system (for example, the appointment of a new Vice-Chancellor and Chair of Council), but in Higher Education more generally. Fee increases mean that this is a pivotal moment for Higher Education institutions. I plan to use the fee plan discussions and block grant negotiations to fight for money for our Union, in order to protect our existing services and improve the experience of incoming students.
